Schneider Leads the Global Scrubber Market
Schneider Electric plans to expand its 'scrubber control' solution in the Korean market in preparation for the IMO (International Maritime Organization) sulfur oxide regulations on the 8th.

In order to reduce sulfur oxides (SOx), a source of air pollution emitted by ships, the IMO plans to implement regulations that will reduce sulfur oxide emissions from ships operating worldwide from the current 3.5% to 0.5% starting January 1, 2020.

In response, the global shipbuilding and shipping industry is investing in facilities such as installing scrubbers, a type of desulfurization equipment, and utilizing low-sulfur fuel oil and LNG. Scrubbers, in particular, can be installed on existing vessels or new small commercial vessels, and offer the advantage of low initial investment costs. Therefore, it is expected that the installation of scrubbers will inject vitality into the stagnant domestic shipbuilding industry.

Schneider Electric plans to focus on introducing 'scrubber control' solutions to help the domestic shipbuilding industry leap forward.

Schneider Electric is currently the sole provider of scrubber control solutions to Wartsila, a major scrubber manufacturer, and is leading the scrubber market.

Schneider Electric has obtained international marine equipment certification for all products required for scrubber production. This certification from DNV-GL, ABS, LR, BV, and KR, members of the International Association Classification Societies (IACS), demonstrates their safety and reliability.
Schneider Electric provides scrubber control, power and automation technologies across all areas, from hardware to software. In particular, you can choose from a starter package, premium package, etc. according to your desired specifications based on 'EcoStruxure', an integrated architecture platform that incorporates IoT.

Various product configurations are available depending on the customer's desired direction, including the Modicon series, a basic high-performance PLC, the Altivar Process, which has the smartest solution among inverter products, and the Magelis, a new concept HMI.

Additionally, Schneider Electric has the advantage of being able to build a differentiated service platform to strengthen the competitiveness of manufacturing companies.

EcoStruxure Machine Advisor is a cloud-based service platform for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). It tracks all equipment sold worldwide and provides real-time data and performance monitoring to prevent unexpected incidents.

Scrubbers can also implement these solutions to easily manage their equipment, as they can locate it anywhere in the world and monitor it remotely.

Schneider Electric's 'EcoStruxure Augmented Operator Advisor' is an augmented reality (AR) solution that allows operators to safely inspect the inside of machines without having to open the equipment. By applying AR solutions in hazardous areas onboard ships, worker safety can be ensured.
