Micrel Launches World's Smallest Dual LDO Product Family
July 21, 2009 -- Micrel (NASDAQ: MCRL), a leader in analog, high-broadband communications and Ethernet IC solutions, has launched a new family of dual low-voltage drop linear regulators.
The MIC5380 and MIC5381 are a new dual LDO family that delivers a low voltage drop of 155mV@150mAmp , a power supply noise rejection ratio (PSRR) of over 60dB, and a low standby current of 32microA in an ultra-small form factor.
This product family is available in an ultra-small 1.0 mm x 1.0 mm 6-pin leadless thin MLF package, making it ideal for use in today's most advanced and smallest portable devices, such as mobile phones, RF power, camera modules, imaging sensors for digital cameras and camcorders, PDAs, portable media players (PMPs), and PC cameras.
The MIC5380 and MIC5381 are currently available for bulk purchase, with prices starting at $0.25 per 1,000 units. Samples can be ordered online at http://www.micrel.com/ProductList.do .
This ultra-small LDO product family sets a new standard by implementing an ultra-small form factor without compromising specifications or electrical performance. “The MIC5380 and MIC5381 meet market demands for providing significant advantages over currently available solutions while continuously reducing the size of portable products. The addition of these new, high-performance dual LDO products enables the delivery of exceptional performance and ultra-small packages for space-constrained portable electronics,” said Andy Khayat, Executive Marketing Manager for Portable Power Products at Micrel.
The MIC5380 and MIC5381 integrate two high-performance LDOs that provide excellent transient response using only small, inexpensive 1 microF ceramic capacitors, and the MIC5381 features an automatic discharge function. Additionally, the MIC5380 and MIC5381 provide comprehensive protection, including current limiting and overtemperature protection, with an operating junction temperature range of -40 OC to +125 OC.
