Introducing New 5G Solutions to Innovate 5G Commercialization

On the 3rd, South Korea narrowly became the first country in the world to launch 5G mobile services, two hours ahead of the United States. 5G mobile services are still unstable. However, considering the early days of 4G (LTE) mobile services, this issue will eventually be resolved. Of course, this will require the dedicated efforts of engineers.

On the 16th, Keysight Korea hosted the "Keysight 5G Summit 2019 Seoul" at the L Tower in Yangjae-dong, Seoul, sharing comprehensive 5G test solutions and the latest wireless technologies and industry trends. The Keysight 5G Summit is an engineering summit held exclusively in Korea and Japan. This shows where the global 5G technology is concentrated.

The 5G Summit began with a welcoming address by Choi Jun-ho, CEO of Keysight Korea, who emphasized the potential of 5G technology in the East Asian region. The summit then opened with a keynote address by Kailash Narayanan, vice president of Keysight's Wireless Test Business, who emphasized that 5G technology can be utilized in a variety of fields, not just in mobile communications.

This was followed by a special lecture on 5G trends by SK Telecom and Qualcomm officials, an introduction to various test solutions and how to use them, and an explanation of the changed 3GPP standards. Additionally, a booth was set up at the event venue where visitors could experience Keysight's various solutions in person.

At the summit, Keysight unveiled the M9384B VXG, a vector signal generator for the first time in Korea that supports 2 GHz bandwidth and up to 44 GHz frequency as an integrated dual-channel. This product addresses the complexities of new 5G technologies, such as the wider mmWave spectrum bandwidth, massive MIMO, and beamforming. It also supports faster commercial 5G deployments, enabling customers to seize early market opportunities.

Keysight also showcased its latest 5G solutions, helping users accelerate 5G innovation – from initial design and verification to operator conformance assessment and manufacturing.

The solutions introduced are '5G Network Emulation Solution', '5G UE and Base Station Manufacturing Test Solution', '5G mmWave Waveform Generation and Analysis Testbed', 'PROPSIM 5G Channel Emulation Solution', and 'Nemo Outdoor 5G NR Drive Test Solution'.

The 5G network emulation solution is based on the 'E7515B UXM 5G Wireless Test Platform,' an integrated signaling test platform, and is a solution that accelerates the initial development, verification, and launch of 5G devices.

5G UE and base station manufacturing test solutions simplify high-volume production testing of 5G NR infrastructure equipment and wireless components. The 5G mmWave waveform generation and analysis testbed accelerates base station characterization and 5G mmWave MIMO testing throughout the product life cycle.

The PROPSIM 5G channel emulation solution is designed to enable realistic, repeatable, comprehensive testing of 5G multi-mode device and base station performance in a laboratory environment.

The Nemo Outdoor 5G NR Drive Test Solution is a scalable drive test and benchmark tool for measuring and monitoring wireless networks, and is now compatible with the Qualcomm X50 modem for 5G NR measurements.

“The utility of 5G technology is not limited to the mobile communications sector, such as C-V2X (Cellular vehicle-to-everything) in automotive and NB-IoT (Narrowband IoT) in IoT,” said Vice President Kailash Narayanan. “Keysight will spare no effort in providing end-to-end support, from measurement instruments to software, to help customers smoothly launch 5G products.”

“Keysight will continue to support Korea’s mobile ecosystem, which is at the center of 5G technology evolution,” said CEO Choi Jun-ho. “Through collaboration with 3GPP, we will lead innovation in the establishment and stable operation of 5G commercial services.”

Meanwhile, Keysight will host Keysight World 2019 this summer, focusing on testing solutions. It is scheduled to be held.
