Held in conjunction with the ICT Future Talent Forum 2019

The 'World IT Show 2019 (WIS) 2019', where you can experience the latest information and communication technology, products, and services, will be held for four days from the 24th to the 27th at COEX in Seoul.

Under the theme of "SMART INNOVATION," this event will showcase 5G mobile communication technology and new products and services utilizing it. Additionally, a variety of events will be held, including a sharing of trends and prospects in the information and communications industry and an awards ceremony for outstanding companies developing innovative information and communications technologies.

At the exhibition, approximately 400 major domestic and international information and communication companies, including SK Telecom, KT, Hyundai Motor Company, and Qualcomm, will participate to showcase the latest information and communication technologies and products, including 5G, AI, IoT, VR/AR, smart cities, and autonomous vehicles.

SK Telecom has set up an 864-square-meter exhibition hall, offering experiential experiences under four themes: media, AI, gaming, and public safety. KT will showcase a total of ten items under the theme, "Do everything with KT 5G." Additionally, items from KT Group companies and small and medium-sized enterprises will be showcased.

A total of ten companies are scheduled to receive awards at the government awards ceremony, which recognizes domestic companies leading the way in information and communications innovation. Samsung Electronics' "30.72TB SAS SSD," the world's first 30TB SSD, will receive the Presidential Award, and software developer VisualCamp's "VR Eye Tracking and Gaze Analysis Software" will receive the Prime Minister's Award. Other recipients of the Minister's Award include Haebora, Olympla, KT/Alticast, Samsung SDS, SK Telecom, Davio, PCT, and VIRNECT.

The Ministry of Science and ICT will also exhibit the results of government R&D in the information and communications field. We also plan to hold side events such as expert consulting to support the commercialization of research results and information and communications technology youth talent recruitment briefing sessions.

Min Won-ki, Second Vice Minister of Science and ICT, said, “The government is promoting the 5G+ strategy to create new industries and jobs and improve the quality of life of the people through 5G-based intelligent innovation across the economy and society,” and “This WIS 2019 will be a good opportunity to look forward to how new services will be created in connection with 5G and how our products and services can be implemented and how they can change our lives.”

WIS 2019 will be held in conjunction with the 'ICT Future Talent Forum 2019'.

This forum, themed “We are creating ICT innovation in Korea,” was held to disseminate and share the achievements of the university information and communications technology (ICT) talent development project. The ICT Future Talent Forum consists of two areas: ▲University ICT Research Center (ITRC) area and ▲ICT Talent Development area, and will be held for three nights and four days with programs such as exhibitions of major research results and symposiums.

The University ICT Research Center, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, will hold a research achievement exhibition and recruiting fair to promote the excellence of its research capabilities and to facilitate the employment and connection of participating students to the industry.

The exhibition hall is organized around themes, grouped into seven major ICT technology fields (AI platform/service, ICT medical/health, human IoT service, future society safety/security, ICT industrial convergence, ICT infrastructure, blockchain/realistic SW), so that the general public can easily understand and experience the research results of 43 university ICT research centers from 30 universities across the country.

The Recruiting Fair will feature recruiters from over 20 companies, including major corporations like LG CNS and Hyundai NGV, as well as excellent small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), providing ITRC students with a variety of job opportunities and recruitment information.

The creative convergence education results of students and professors who participated in the ICT Premium Talent Development Project will also be presented to the public. We present approximately 30 achievements of multidisciplinary convergence research and self-directed learning by students at the Future IT Convergence Research Institute of POSTECH-SUNY Korea and the Yonsei University Global Convergence Technology Institute.

Additionally, we provide consulting services to venture capitalists (VCs) on students' research results to explore directions for technology transfer and entrepreneurship.

At the opening ceremony on the 24th, seven people, including Soonchunhyang University's IoT Security Research Center and Dankook University doctoral student Yang Dong-seok, who achieved outstanding results in the ICT field research center performance evaluation, will receive the Minister of Science and ICT Award.
