About 160 executives and employees from companies exploring new business opportunities attended.
Introduction of 30 new technologies related to the 4th Industrial Revolution
Consultations are also underway for the transfer of 12,083 patents released free of charge.

On April 29, Samsung Electronics, together with the Korea Intellectual Property Strategy Development Institute (KISTA), held the '2019 1st Biz Technology Briefing Session' at the aT Center in Seocho-gu to introduce excellent technologies with high potential for business linkage or mass production to partner companies and small and medium-sized enterprises, thereby helping to expand business opportunities.

This briefing session was attended by approximately 160 people, including executives and researchers from 87 companies exploring new technology development and new business opportunities. A total of 30 technologies were introduced at the briefing session, including excellent technologies from universities and public research institutes recommended by the Korea Intellectual Property Strategy Development Institute (KISTA) and the Korea Science and Technology Employment Promotion Agency (COMPA), and promising technologies from companies recommended by the Seoul Metropolitan Government SMEs and Startups Agency and the Seoul Center for Creative Economy and Innovation.

▲Technologies related to the 4th industrial revolution were introduced, including a fully biodegradable supercapacitor, silver nanowire deposition for next-generation convergence devices, material technologies such as carbon nanotube (CNT) fibers and sheets, AR-based kiosks, and AI-based emotional and behavioral recognition customized ordering robots.

Special lectures on technology trends were also held. Maeng Seung-ju, a master at Samsung Electronics' Network Business Division, discussed "5G Technology Overview, Features, and Future Outlook," while Professor Cho Seong-bae of Yonsei University's College of Engineering lectured on "Core AI Technologies and Industrialization Outlook."

In addition to introducing excellent technologies, Samsung Electronics also provided customized technical consultations with experts and arranged meetings with technology-holding institutions to support the adoption of the introduced technologies, thereby helping them lead to actual commercialization.

In particular, since 2015, Samsung Electronics has been providing free access to the patents it holds, allowing not only its partner companies but also non-business partners to freely utilize them. On this day, a transfer consultation was also conducted on a total of 12,083 patents in the fields of semiconductors, mobile devices, and home appliances that Samsung Electronics opened.

Samsung Electronics Vice President Joo Eun-ki, head of the Mutual Growth and Cooperation Center, said, “Samsung Electronics is striving to help small and medium-sized enterprises achieve sustainable growth by not only holding technology briefings but also providing development funds to small and medium-sized enterprises that wish to develop new technologies together,” and added, “We will continue to strive to create an ecosystem of shared growth where large and small and medium-sized enterprises can develop together.”

Since 2009, Samsung Electronics has hosted "Excellent Technology Briefings" to showcase promising future technologies. Last year, it added "Business Technology Briefings" to showcase technologies with potential for rapid commercialization. This year, it plans to hold three briefings each, for a total of six briefings.
