Computex 2019 opened on the 28th at Exhibition Hall 1 of the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center.

Computex, which began in 1981, is jointly organized by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) and the Taipei Computer Association (TCA), and is based on Taiwan's ICT cluster, with a diverse range of companies participating, from global brands to startups.

On the first day of the event, key figures from Taiwan's political and business sectors, including President Tsai Ing-wen and Minister of Economic Affairs Shen Jong-chin, attended and graced the occasion.

Computex 2019 will be held under five themes: AI and IoT, 5G, Blockchain, Innovation and Startups, and Gaming and Extended Reality (XR).

With a total of 1,685 companies participating, the number of booths alone reached 5,508, a 10% increase from 2018. In particular, executives from companies such as AMD, Intel, and Microsoft visited this Computex to deliver keynote speeches.

In her keynote address, AMD President and CEO Lisa Su reveals details of upcoming products in collaboration with its ecosystem partners in Taiwan. Intel Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Client Computing Group Gregory M. Bryant explains how Intel is transforming intelligent computing in a data-centric world. On the second day, Microsoft Vice President Nick Parker introduces advancements in the new Intelligent Cloud and Intelligent Edge at the Microsoft Keynote Forum.

The exhibition will be held at Taipei International Trade Center Hall 1 (TWTC Hall 1), Taipei International Convention Center (TICC), and Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center Halls 1 and 2 (TaiNEX 1 & 2), with Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center Hall 2 being newly established this year.


Computex d&i Awards, Taiwanese Companies Strong
222 entries were received for this year's Computex d&i Awards. Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen announced the winners of three gold medals and three special awards among them.

The gold medal winners are Acer's all-in-one gaming chair 'Predator Thronos', AMD's world's first 7nm gaming GPU 'Radeon VII', and ASUS's smartphone 'ZenFone 6' featuring a flip camera.

Special awards were presented to Acer, Augmented Intelligence, and BioPro Scientific.

Acer introduced the 'Smart Parking Meter System,' which integrates automatic vehicle monitoring, license plate recognition, cloud management, and various payment processes; Augmented Intelligence's 'BodyMap' improved medical education and the relationship between doctors and patients; and BioPro Scientific introduced 'NewLive,' a brain recording/stimulation IoT device that automatically collects disease-related big data.

A total of 60 entries received awards at this ceremony, with ASUS winning 10 entries and Acer winning 7.


Global Technology Ecosystem Outlook Delivered by Computex 2019
Computex 2019 is held alongside the main exhibition and InnoVEX, which features 467 startups from 24 countries, as well as various side events.

The Computex Forum will be held for two days from the 28th to the 29th under the theme of 'Pervasive Intelligence'.

The forum is largely composed of three sessions: Disruptive Trends, AI, and AI+IoT. Industry leaders invited from around the world, including IBM, Qualcomm, NVIDIA, Google, and Intel, will share insights on future trends in cutting-edge technologies such as quantum computing, blockchain applications, immersive experiences, digital twins, autonomous vehicles, AI, and AIoT.

On the 30th, the 6th 'Taipei 5G Summit' will be held, featuring the InnoVEX Forum, which shares technological insights on global startup trends and Taiwan's future, as well as various business opportunities.

In addition, the charity esports event 'ZOTAC CUP Fight' League of Legends tournament charity match and the 'G.SKILL OC World Cup' finals, which determine the best PC overclocker, will also be held.

He went on to emphasize, “The Digital Big Bang created by the integration of 5G, AI, IoT, and Big Data will significantly change our daily lives, and Computex will serve as a gateway to this new world.”
