Samsung Electronics solidified its Semiconductor Vision 2030.

Samsung Electronics held the 'Samsung Foundry Forum 2019 Korea' at the Grand InterContinental Parnas Hotel in Seoul on the 3rd and announced that it will strive to help domestic fabless companies and partners grow together based on its foundry technology.

This year's forum was attended by more than 500 fabless customers and foundry partners, an increase of approximately 40% over last year. The number of companies participating in exhibition booths also doubled.

In April of this year, Samsung Electronics announced its "Semiconductor Vision 2030," which aims to become the world's No. 1 system semiconductor company by 2030 through an investment of 133 trillion won and the creation of 15,000 jobs.

At this forum, Samsung Electronics introduced its wide-ranging foundry portfolio, ranging from the latest EUV process technology that will lead the 4th industrial revolution era, including AI, 5G, battlefields, and IoT, to low-power FD-SOI and 8-inch solutions.

Samsung Electronics plans to provide domestic fabless companies with EUV-based ultra-fine processes of 7nm or less to support the development of next-generation advanced products.

To enable fabless customers to more easily utilize Samsung's foundry process technology and services, we have expanded our semiconductor design house, design assets (Intellectual Property; IP), automated design tools (Electronic Design Automation; EDA), and assembly and test (Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly & Test).We plan to expand cooperation with domestic foundry partners to include est; OSAT.

In his keynote speech, Eun-Seung Jeong, President of Samsung Electronics' Foundry Business Division, said, "Samsung Electronics will contribute to the development of the system semiconductor industry by activating a cooperative ecosystem from development to mass production, including design services, manufacturing, and packaging, so that domestic fabless companies can be active in various fields, including new markets."

Lee Jang-gyu, CEO of fabless semiconductor company Telechips, said, “Telechips plans to continue its strong collaboration with Samsung Electronics in fine processes below 10nm, following the 14nm process we are currently collaborating on.”
