KT signed a business agreement with Coreline Soft, a domestic 3D medical imaging software developer, at the KT 5G Open Lab in Seocho-gu, Seoul, for "strategic cooperation to discover 5G medical convergence use cases."

Under the agreement, the two companies will pursue the development of ultra-low latency 5G-based medical 3D VR surgical guides, the advancement of medical 3D image collaboration solutions, the establishment of a medical industry collaboration ecosystem based on a 5G platform, and the development and securing of 5G medical image content.

KT plans to develop safe and rapid medical convergence services for hospital surgical environments, emergency situations, and medical imaging solutions by applying AI technology to its 5G platform.

Lee Sun-woo, Head of KT’s Infrastructure Research Institute, said, “We plan to identify 5G use cases in the medical field through the business agreement,” adding, “Based on this, we will present a future blueprint for the medical industry transformed by 5G, while simultaneously building a collaborative ecosystem that grows together with small and medium-sized partner companies.”

Coreline Soft is a company possessing AI medical image analysis technology and has developed a 3D medical image collaboration platform and software A-View Screening that supports interpretation after CT scanning.

KT developed a 5G-based AI emergency medical system in collaboration with Yonsei Severance Hospital and held a demonstration of the system at the hospital on the 4th. During the demonstration, KT established an emergency medical system in which video, audio, and vital signs data from the scene of an emergency are rapidly transmitted to the emergency medical center via a 5G network, and the center receives real-time information from the scene to begin patient treatment immediately upon the arrival of the ambulance.
