Rockwell Launches Servo System That Can Operate as a System Without a Controller

Rockwell Automation announced on the 18th that it has released the Kinetix 5100 Servo Drive, TLP motor, and cable that operate as a system without a controller.

The Allen-Bradley Kinetics 5100 servo drive offers a variety of control capabilities to support a wide range of high-speed, low-power motion control applications. It can be used with Micro800 controllers, Logix-based control systems, or standalone.
When the built-in safety torque is turned off, the user can remove the motor torque without powering down the entire machine, allowing the machine to be restarted quickly when it is in a safe state. Additionally, it supports Device Level Ring (DLR) topology via dual port Ethernet/IP.
“The Kinetics 5100 is ideal for mid-sized packaging machines,” said Simon Wang, product manager at Rockwell Automation. “By bundling the drive, motor, and cable into one unit, we were able to price the system more competitively.”
The Kinetics 5100 servo drive provides an option for users of the Allen-Bradley Ultra 300 digital servo drive. The Ultra 300 digital servo drive will be discontinued and replaced by the Kinetics 5100 servo drive.
