KT announced on the 20th that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the World Bank at the World Bank headquarters in Washington, D.C., on the 19th (local time) to promote international development cooperation projects based on AI and big data.

Both organizations will promote the introduction of ICT solutions to strengthen health capabilities and foster socio-economic development in developing countries. In addition, they plan to share relevant know-how and knowledge and organize an international development cooperation conference.

KT showcased the 'Global Epidemic Prevention Platform (GEPP)' and the 'Livestock Epidemic Prevention Platform (LEPP)' during the World Bank's 'Korea Innovation Week,' which was held in conjunction with this business agreement.

The infectious disease spread prevention platform is a platform that utilizes telecommunications data to prevent and manage the global spread of epidemic infectious diseases in advance. KT introduced the 'Smart Quarantine System' in Korea in 2016 with the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Meanwhile, KT launched the GEPP service starting in Ghana in August of last year, followed by Laos in September, and in December, launched the service in Kenya in collaboration with local telecommunications operator Safaricom.
