According to the latest Worldwide Semiconductor Equipment Market Statistics (WWSEMS) from the Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International (SEMI), global semiconductor equipment sales in 2019 amounted to $59.8 billion. This is a decrease of about 7% from $64.5 billion in 2018.

Taiwan emerged as the largest market, recording $17.12 billion, up approximately 68% from 2018, while China maintained its second place with $13.45 billion, up 3% from 2018.

North America grew by a whopping 40% compared to 2018, reaching $8.15 billion, while Japan, Europe, and other regions saw significant declines compared to the previous year.

In 2019, global wafer processing equipment sales decreased by 6%, but sales in other front-end processing areas increased by 9%.

In the back-end segment, sales of assembly equipment fell by about 27%, while sales of packaging and test equipment fell by 11%.

On the other hand, sales of equipment in all major sectors except assembly and packaging equipment in the Chinese market increased.
