Microchip Launches 4th Generation PCIe Switch 'Switchtec' Family

Microchip Technology Inc. (NASDAQ: MCHP) today announced the availability of its Switchtec™ PAX Advanced Fabric Gen 4 PCIe switch family to support cloud, data center and hyperscale computing that accelerates advancements in artificial intelligence and machine learning.

The Switchtec PAX PCIe switch family accelerates time to market by providing a turnkey fabric solution for systems requiring multi-host sharing, including Single Root I/O Virtualization (SR-IOV), Non-Volatile Memory (NVMe), SSDs, GPUs, and other PCIe endpoints.
Microchip's Switchtec PAX devices are fourth-generation PCIe switches that reduce overall system power consumption. The Switchtech PAX family comes in a variety of variants including 100-lane, 84-lane, 68-lane, 52-lane, 36-lane, and 28-lane.
In addition, it has features such as ▲improved error blocking function ▲comprehensive diagnostic and debug function ▲extensive input/output (I/O) interface ▲integrated MIPS processor ▲secure boot that prevents unauthorized firmware execution through public key encryption.
Applications include GPU workstations, configurable general purpose GPU (GP-GPU) fabrics, scalable multi-host systems, SR-IOV-enabled JBOFs, disaggregated systems, and rack-scale architectures.
