KT and Hyundai Heavy Industries Holdings Establish DX Business Cooperation Committee


On the 16th, KT announced that it had signed a business cooperation agreement for a strategic partnership with Hyundai Robotics and a 50 billion won investment contract. This agreement gives KT a 10% stake in Hyundai Robotics.

Hyundai Robotics was established in 2017 as the robotics division of Hyundai Heavy Industries Holdings and was spun off as a separate corporation in May of this year.

Under this agreement, the two companies will collaborate on areas such as the development of intelligent service robots, autonomous driving technology research, and smart factories. KT will be responsible for the development and application of software related to intelligent service robots and autonomous driving technology, while Hyundai Robotics will be responsible for the development and production of hardware.

In the smart factory sector, KT will provide a combination of communications technology, cloud computing, ICT solutions, and security-related products, while Hyundai Robotics will supply robots and solutions. They will also collaborate in the smart hospital and smart logistics sectors.

On this day, KT also signed a business cooperation agreement with Hyundai Heavy Industries Holdings for joint promotion of smart solutions and digital innovation. According to the agreement, business cooperation between KT and Hyundai Heavy Industries Group is also expected to become more concrete.

KT and Hyundai Heavy Industries Holdings have agreed to establish a cooperation committee, led by KT CEO Koo Hyun-mo and Hyundai Heavy Industries Holdings Vice President Jeong Ki-seon, to jointly pursue smart solutions, digital innovation, AI, and ICT businesses. The committee will discuss business cooperation plans between KT and affiliates of the Hyundai Heavy Industries Group.
