TLE956x Motor System IC to Enter Mass Production in Q4

More and more electric motors are being used in cars for power liftgates, sunroofs, electric seats, fuel pumps, and more, enhancing safety and convenience.

Infineon Technologies announced on the 13th that it has developed the TLE956x motor system IC family for controlling brushed and brushless DC motors. The new family consists of multi-half-bridge MOSFET drivers that integrate power supply and communication interfaces. It comprises a total of seven products and is available in a 7mm × 7mm VQFN-48 package.

It includes up to four half-bridge drivers for driving external N-channel MOSFETs, and the built-in linear voltage regulator provides a 5V voltage with a 250mA output current. For communication, a CAN-FD transceiver (5 Mb/s, including partial networking option) compliant with ISO 11898-2:2016 and a LIN transceiver compliant with 2.2A, ISO 17987-4, and SAE J2602 are also provided.

Andreas Doll, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Body Power at Infineon, stated, “Using the highly integrated TLE956x motor system IC family allows for greater board space and greater MCU selection compared to using existing solutions,” adding, “The built-in control algorithm automatically regulates gate current to correct the system’s MOSFET parameters.”

Samples of the TLE956x motor system IC family are currently available, and mass production is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2020.
