KT Develops Dr. Core IP Solution Using AI to Detect Faults

Dr. Core IP Solution was developed to provide high-quality internet services as non-face-to-face services such as remote work, video conferencing, and online classes, as well as contactless consumption, have become part of daily life due to COVID-19.

Dr. Core IP is a technology in which AI rapidly learns in real-time various factors that can affect services, such as data generated from hundreds of thousands of devices deployed on the KT internet network and DDoS attacks, and compares them with normal data values to identify the cause of internet quality issues before users report them.

Previously, when quality issues such as network failures or slowdowns occurred in the internet network, KT engineers had to analyze the entire logs of the network equipment in the affected area, which consumed significant resources and time.

KT stated, “With Dr. Core IP, quality issues can be detected within minutes,” and expressed expectations that “as rapid measures to improve internet quality are possible, the quality of internet-based services such as the Internet and IPTV will be further enhanced.”

Dr. Core IP is scheduled to be expanded to the nationwide KT Giga Internet network starting from December. KT plans to enhance this solution by linking it with KT's existing network intelligence system, with the goal of automating tasks ranging from monitoring to analysis and action across the entire network segment.

KT developed 'Dr. Lauren,' which manages enterprise services using AI, in December 2018. While Dr. Lauren easily identified the cause and location of failures, Dr. Core IP differs in that it can proactively manage network quality through anomaly detection technology.
