Developed in collaboration with Cartesiam, a machine learning specialist and ST Authorized Partner, the FP-AI-NANOEDG1 software pack contains all the drivers, middleware, documentation, and sample code needed to capture and integrate sensor data and run Cartesiam’s NanoEdge™ library.

Even users without AI expertise can quickly create and export custom machine learning libraries for their applications using Cartesiam's NanoEdge AI Studio tool running on a Windows® 10 or Ubuntu PC.

Discovery kits such as the STM32L562E-DK, which feature industrial-grade sensors, enable you to capture vibration data from equipment that needs monitoring both in normal operating mode and under induced abnormal conditions. The feature pack includes software to configure and collect sensor data.

NanoEdge AI Studio selects precompiled algorithms from over 500 million possible combinations and analyzes benchmark data to generate optimized libraries for training and inference. Feature packs provide stubs for these libraries, allowing for easy replacement and integration into applications.

Once deployed, the feature pack allows you to switch between learning and monitoring modes, allowing the device to learn normal operating patterns locally during initial setup and throughout the life of the device.

The Discovery Kit enables developers to collect data, create solutions, train, and monitor. Furthermore, leveraging the STM32 ecosystem and free tools and software, they can quickly and cost-effectively develop proof-of-concept models, facilitating easy porting of applications to other STM32 MCUs.

These intelligent edge device solutions give equipment operators more control over potentially sensitive information by processing data locally on the device, unlike other devices that rely on AI in the cloud.

The FP-AI-NANOEDG1 feature pack is currently available from st.com.

The STM32L562E-DK Discovery Kit contains the STM32L562QEI6QU MCU, plus an iNEMO™ 3D accelerometer, a 3D gyroscope, two MEMS microphones, a 240 × 240 color TFT-LCD module, and the integrated STLINK-V3E debugger/programmer. The kit has an estimated price of $76 and is available from st.com or distributors.
