Implementation of a non-face-to-face entrance exam service


The Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute (KERI) announced on the 26th that it is implementing a non-face-to-face on-site testing service for domestic power equipment companies whose export routes have been blocked due to COVID-19.

To export products, companies must obtain test results from an accredited testing and certification body, such as KERI, in the presence of an official from the relevant country's power authority. However, the recent COVID-19 pandemic has made it difficult for overseas testers to visit Korea, making it difficult for companies to undergo testing and export their products on time.

Accordingly, KERI has introduced a non-face-to-face service that allows participants to view the entire process, from power equipment inspection to test results, through real-time online video without the need for in-person visits. Recently, domestic companies, including LS Electric, have been utilizing this service.

Overseas customers can also utilize this service. Simple products that require no assembly or operation can be tested overseas without visiting a research center. Recently, a Saudi Arabian power equipment company underwent transformer testing and obtained a certificate remotely.

KERI's Seo Yoon-taek, head of the Electric Power Evaluation Division, said, "Non-face-to-face testing services are expected to not only have a positive effect on supporting companies, but also expand the distribution of the institute's test reports in overseas markets and enhance its status." He added, "Strengthening the global recognition of KERI's test reports will soon lead to enhanced export competitiveness for domestic power equipment companies that utilize them."
