The STM32WLE5 supports multiple RF modulation schemes, including (G)FSK, (G)MSK, BPSK, and proprietary protocols used in various sub-GHz long-range protocols, including LoRa® spread-spectrum modulation. Users can choose commercial software such as LoRaWAN® and wM-Bus stacks provided by ST and authorized partners, or flexibly apply outsourced or self-developed protocol stacks.

Supporting dual low-power (14 dBm) and high-power (22 dBm) transmit modes, it delivers excellent linear performance from 150 MHz to 960 MHz, ensuring technical compatibility with RF regulations in all markets worldwide across the unlicensed frequency range below 1 GHz. Receiver sensitivity down to -148 dBm also helps maximize RF range. Using only a single crystal for the High-Speed External (HSE) clock and radio functions reduces bill-of-materials (BOM) costs.

The STM32WLE5 portfolio now includes devices in a 5×5mm BGA73 size, alongside the newly expanded QFN48 package. Three Flash memory capacities are available per package: 64/128/256KB, and all devices offer a high percentage of user-assignable GPIOs.
