KETI and Siheung City Support Electric Vehicle Market Entry by Electronics Companies


The Korea Electronics Technology Institute (KETI) announced on the 3rd that it had signed a business agreement with Siheung City for the construction and operation of an electric vehicle manufacturing data center.

KETI is developing technologies that can support productivity improvements and quality innovation in manufacturing companies by applying visual intelligence, IoT, and big data-based technologies to industrial data generated in industries such as power plants, shipbuilding, and the automobile industry.

Siheung City is home to numerous industrial complexes, including the Siheung Smart Hub, the nation's first industrial complex, as well as the Sihwa MTV (Multi Techno Valley) and Maehwa Industrial Complex. Beyond these complexes, the city is also home to numerous manufacturing companies, making it a business-centric industrial city.

Through this agreement, KETI and Siheung City plan to build a big data platform that can be utilized for the production, management, and operation of electric vehicle parts by integrating driving data and parts data generated during electric vehicle operation over a period of approximately four years from this year to 2023.

To this end, KETI secures data on core electric vehicle components such as batteries and drive motors, and supports automotive parts companies in ▲converting production items to electric vehicle components, ▲improving the performance and quality of electric vehicle components, and ▲applying smart factories. Siheung City supports the business expenses required to discover demand from related companies and to build and operate a data center.

This project is being promoted through the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy's Industrial Innovation Infrastructure Establishment Project, with KETI as the lead organization, Siheung City as the local government, 12 participating organizations including KST Mobility, Korea Testing Laboratory, Inzi Controls, Seoul National University, and Korea Industrial Complex Corporation, and 36 companies including LG Chem, SK Innovation, and Hanon Systems as organizations utilizing the results.
