Smart Farm R&D Division Launches: "Recruiting Research Teams Begins in February"

The integration of smart farm R&D projects is being promoted.
The Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT), the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (MAFRA), and the Rural Development Administration (RDA) announced on the 12th that the 'Smart Farm Research and Development Foundation', which they jointly prepared to establish, completed its registration and launched on December 28, 2020.
The project team, a non-profit public interest foundation, will operate and manage the "Smart Farm Multi-Ministry Package Innovation Technology Development Project," with a total investment of 386.7 billion won from 2021 to 2027. Professor Cho Seong-in of the Department of Biosystems Engineering at Seoul National University has been appointed as the project team leader.
The launch of this project unit will enable a unified approach to smart farm R&D. By integrating and investing in smart farm R&D, previously conducted separately by various ministries, we will increase efficiency. We will also leverage the infrastructure of the Smart Farm Innovation Valley and Smart Livestock Demonstration Complex, both of which are currently being promoted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, to continue demonstrating the scalability, economic feasibility, and stability of smart farm technology and commercializing them.
The business unit has completed hiring employees and is preparing to launch the smart farm R&D project in earnest, including planning and managing the project and building a website. The business division plans to complete the research project planning for the smart farm technology development project to be promoted this year by January and recruit research teams through a business announcement in early February.

Recruitment for the "K-Smart Lighthouse Factory," a hub for intelligent manufacturing.
The Ministry of SMEs and Startups will accept applications from small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) hoping to participate in the 'K-Smart Lighthouse Factory' project, which supports the construction of AI and data-based smart factories, from January 7 to February 19.
