Hyundai Motor Group is joining hands with the National Information Society Agency (NIA) to take the lead in utilizing and disseminating data for artificial intelligence (AI) training in the automotive sector.

Hyundai Motor Group announced on the 8th that it signed a 'MOU for sharing artificial intelligence learning data' with the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology.

The signing ceremony held at the Seoul office of the Korea Intelligence Information Society Agency was attended by officials including Hyundai Motor Group Vice President Kim Dong-wook and Korea Intelligence Information Society Agency President Moon Yong-sik.

The Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology (KIAT), an agency under the Ministry of Science and ICT, is building infrastructure for the artificial intelligence industry, including by conducting a project to build large-scale artificial intelligence learning data in various fields, including autonomous driving, transportation, environment, and voice, as part of the Digital New Deal project.

This business agreement aims to accelerate the software development of domestic automobile companies and strengthen their global competitiveness by establishing a system for utilizing artificial intelligence learning data in the automotive industry based on mutual cooperation.

The Korea Institute for Advanced Studies (KAIST) provides Hyundai Motor Group with various AI learning data, including collected natural language, road and lane information, and human behavior videos.

Based on this, Hyundai Motor Group is developing artificial intelligence-based future mobility technologies in various fields such as autonomous driving, infotainment, and robotics. It's a plan.

Through this MOU, Hyundai Motor Group plans to advance its voice recognition technology based on a vast amount of natural language data, including free conversations and dialects. Furthermore, the group plans to leverage data in various areas, such as developing autonomous driving technology using road, lane, and crosswalk recognition data, to strengthen its AI competitiveness.

Additionally, Hyundai Motor Group will join forces with the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology to improve the quality of AI learning data and develop AI services and tasks for the automotive industry.

Hyundai Motor Group Vice President Kim Dong-wook said, “Through this MOU, we will accelerate our transformation into a Smart Mobility Solution company by advancing our artificial intelligence technology and provide new mobility services to our customers.”

Moon Yong-sik, president of the Korea Institute for Intelligent Information Society, said, “I hope this MOU will serve as a catalyst for domestic companies to utilize and expand artificial intelligence learning data.” He added, “As domestic automobile companies’ vehicle SW technology continues to make remarkable progress, we will do our best to create a precedent for public-private cooperation through active support through continuous discovery of high-quality learning data and quality enhancement.”
