In ASML's first quarter of 2021, Korea surpassed Taiwan and recorded the largest sales share by region.

ASML announced its first-quarter 2021 financial results on the 21st. According to the results, first-quarter revenue reached €4.364 billion, a 78.8% increase year-over-year, and gross profit reached €2.352 billion, a 113.6% increase year-over-year.

Looking at the regional sales distribution, Korea took first place with 44%, beating Taiwan with 43%. China accounted for 15%, the United States for 3%, and Japan for 1%.

By technology, ArFi accounted for 47% and EUV 36%, and by usage, logic accounted for 78% and memory 22%.

Regarding the results, ASML President and CEO Peter Wennink stated, "ASML's first-quarter revenue of €4.4 billion exceeded our previous earnings forecast. Gross margin also significantly exceeded our forecast at 53.9%. The strong performance in the first quarter was driven by strong performance in our Install-Based Business, where we support customer productivity improvements and software upgrades driven by increased semiconductor demand. ASML's first-quarter net bookings of €4.7 billion include €2.3 billion for EUV systems."

Furthermore, the company stated, "Compared to three months ago, demand for ASML products and services across all semiconductor sectors has strengthened. This shift is driven by demand for digital infrastructure, including 5G, AI, and high-performance computing (HPC) solutions. This has led to significant growth in demand for cutting-edge processes in logic and memory, as well as for existing processes. This year, ASML expects revenue to increase by 30% compared to last year."
