AMD processor-based IaaS product launches for the first time
Pre-order on the highly secure D1 platform


KT announced on the 19th that it will be the first domestic cloud service provider to launch a virtual server IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) product based on the AMD 'EPYC' processor.

AMD servers are priced at approximately 80% of the cost of existing servers with the same specifications, and can be applied to a wide range of applications, including general web and middleware, databases, and big data analytics. Existing systems can also be easily migrated to the x86 architecture.

According to KT's own verification results, AMD servers demonstrated performance equivalent to that of the Intel server CPU "Cascade" operating on the KT Cloud "D1 Platform." AMD servers are also available on the D1 platform. After launch, the platform will be expanded to include not only the D1 platform but also KT G-Cloud (public cloud zone) and F-Cloud (financial cloud zone).

The D1 platform boasts high security and stability, equipped with physical security devices such as IPS, firewalls, and VPNs. Furthermore, up to 15 DMZs and private networks can be created, and all network and firewall policies can be configured within the cloud console. In addition to servers with the same specifications as before (64vCore × 64GB), high-spec (128vCore × 256GB) servers are also provided.

Meanwhile, to celebrate the launch of the AMD server, KT plans to offer a 50% discount to customers who subscribe to the AMD server on the D1 platform until the end of December 2021.
