A testing and certification service has been developed to support the market launch of promising products, such as LED lighting with sterilization functions and building-integrated photovoltaic exterior materials, and is expected to help launch new products that combine new technologies in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

The Korean Agency for Technology and Standards (KATS) under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (Director Lee Sang-hoon) announced on the 22nd that it plans to develop test methods and procedures for eight promising products selected last April, including LED lighting with sterilization functions and building-integrated photovoltaic exterior materials, and to issue accredited test reports that will help with domestic demand and overseas exports.

To this end, the Korean Agency for Technology and Standards comprehensively evaluated research and development plans proposed by testing and certification institutions and selected five institutions, including the Korea Testing Laboratory, Dong-A University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation, and the Fashion Industry Testing & Research Institute, as lead organizations for each project.

The Korean Agency for Technology and Standards plans to sign agreements with lead organizations for each project in July and complete the development of test services within the first half of 2022.

Through this project, by establishing a foundation for testing and evaluating new industrial products and setting up a system for issuing accredited test reports, it will help launch innovative products into domestic and international markets and support consumers in purchasing products with verified quality and safety.
