Apple's 'iPhone 14' is expected to be the first Apple iPhone to use a chassis made of titanium (Ti).

According to an article published on the 26th by MacRumors citing a new investor report from JP Morgan Chase, the largest bank in the United States, the 2022 'iPhone 14' series is expected to include a high-end model with a new titanium alloy chassis design.

According to a report by JP Morgan Chase, the use of titanium alloy is one of the biggest changes in the case design of the 2022 iPhone series, and Foxconn is expected to exclusively manufacture the titanium frame.

In the past, Apple has used titanium in some models of the Apple Watch series, but has never used titanium in an iPhone.

In fact, the latest iPhones were made only of aluminum and stainless steel.

Titanium is relatively hard compared to stainless steel, making it scratch-resistant, and its strength makes it more durable and able to withstand bending. It is also more corrosion resistant than other alloys.

On the other hand, fingerprints and oil can easily stick to the titanium surface, leaving unsightly marks on the device, and the high hardness of titanium limits freedom of design.

Apple is reportedly researching ways to overcome both of these issues, and is reportedly exploring a method that uses a thin oxide coating on the metal surface that could significantly reduce the appearance of fingerprints on the device, as well as developing blasting, etching, and chemical processes that could give the titanium enclosure a high-gloss surface finish for a more attractive appearance.
