DB HiTek's first-half revenue increased 11% year-on-year
Bucheon-Eumseong Fab Operating at Full Capacity, No Expansion Plans
Denies reports of acquisition offer, focusing on RF sensor products


DB HiTek announced on the 13th that it recorded its highest-ever quarterly performance in the second quarter of 2021, with sales of 274.7 billion won and an operating profit of 81.4 billion won. Compared to the same period last year, sales and operating profit increased by 13% and 6%, respectively, with an operating profit margin of 30%. For the first half of the year, the company recorded sales of 518.4 billion won and an operating profit of 142 billion won, with sales increasing by 11% year-on-year.

"DB HiTek stated, 'Performance was influenced by an overall expansion in sales of key products centered on power semiconductors, as well as increased sales of OLED driver chips developed under our own brand as they entered the market in earnest.'"

In addition, they stated, “We have been operating our two fabs in Bucheon, Gyeonggi Province and Eumseong, Chungbuk Province at full capacity for over two years, from the spring of 2019 to the present,” adding, “As the semiconductor supply shortage persists and customer demand remains steady, we expect to continue our growth trend for the time being.”

To flexibly respond to increasing customer demand, DB HiTek plans to steadily maximize available capacity through measures such as relocating production facilities and supplementing equipment in bottleneck processes. However, despite forecasts that the shortage of 8-inch chips will persist next year, there was no mention of expansion. They also denied reports that they had sounded out LX, Samsung Electronics, LG, Hyundai Motor, and others regarding an acquisition.

DB HiTek plans to expand its range of new products, including RF and sensors, in addition to power semiconductors.
