NIA, AI Talent Development and the Council of AI Graduate Schools
MOU Signed for Utilization and Dissemination of AI Training Data
Support for AI data utilization within 10 AI graduate school platforms


The National Intelligence Society Agency (NIA) and the Association of AI Graduate Schools (hereinafter the Association) announced on the 19th that they signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at the NIA Seoul office to strengthen mutual cooperation for fostering talent in the domestic AI field and for the utilization and dissemination of AI training data.

This agreement was pursued to foster AI talent and promote the revitalization of the AI research and development ecosystem by creating an environment for utilizing 'AI training data' within AI graduate schools and supporting data dissemination. NIA and the Council have agreed to make joint efforts to ensure that AI training data can be utilized for the development of AI graduate school education curricula, AI academic research, etc.

NIA has decided to actively support the use of AI training data in various fields such as speech and natural language, vision, healthcare, and autonomous driving in an open joint research platform scheduled to be established in the second half of this year with the participation of all 10 AI graduate schools nationwide.

In addition, we plan to involve faculty members from the council in the new project planning process to establish and provide new data projects necessary for the development and research of leading domestic AI technologies.

The council plans to design AI-related practical training courses based on AI training data to help enhance the development capabilities of its graduate students, and plans to collect opinions on data usability and quality to use in improving data quality.

NIA President Moon Yong-sik stated, “With the world’s largest AI training dataset being established and made available, there are high expectations for the development of the AI industry,” adding, “I hope that AI graduate schools, which foster talent to lead Korea’s AI future, will continuously generate achievements such as the development of new technologies and academic research utilizing this dataset, serving as a precedent for cooperation between the public and private sectors.”
