SK Telecom (CEO Park Jung-ho) is joining hands with GE Healthcare Korea (CEO Kim Eun-mi) to take the lead in the domestic digital healthcare market.

On the 28th, SK Telecom signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with GE Healthcare to lead the domestic digital healthcare business by combining SKT's 5G MEC-based cloud infrastructure and GE's healthcare solutions.

GE Healthcare is a global leader in the healthcare industry with over 100 years of business experience and approximately 50,000 healthcare professionals, with annual sales of $16.7 billion (approximately KRW 19.6 trillion). GE Healthcare is leading the way in precision medicine and digitalization in the healthcare sector.

Through this business collaboration, the two companies plan to conduct comprehensive cooperation to discover and preempt new business models in the rapidly growing digital healthcare market, including combining SKT's 5G MEC (Mobile Edge Computing)-based cloud infrastructure with GE Healthcare's digital healthcare solutions.

SKT can smoothly process large volumes of patient medical data generated by medical institutions. It provides an ultra-low latency network based on 5G MEC and cloud infrastructure and operation management services suitable for various medical environments.

GE Healthcare Korea is responsible for supplying and providing technical support for GE's AI digital healthcare solutions, including 'Mural', an integrated remote monitoring solution for infectious, critical, and emergency patient data; 'Command Center', which serves as a mission control center that analyzes hospital workflows; and 'MUSE', an electrocardiogram management solution.

In particular, the two companies plan to jointly enter the medical data digital transformation market, including expanding digital solutions led by GE Healthcare's remote patient monitoring solution 'Mural' and continuously discovering use cases for SKT's 5G MEC and cloud infrastructure, as well as participating in government-led digital healthcare projects.
