Intel continues to make aggressive investments in autonomous driving, including launching a Level 4 autonomous vehicle in 2024 and expanding autonomous driving collaboration with major automakers.

Intel held a press conference at CES 2022 and announced autonomous driving through Mobileye. During the event, Gregory Bryant, executive vice president and general manager of Intel’s Client Computing Group, Lisa Pearce, vice president of Intel’s Visual Computing Group, and Amnon Shashua, CEO of Mobileye, introduced the achievements made in various strategic business sectors of Intel.

First, Mobileye unveiled a new system-on-chip (SoC) to be installed in autonomous vehicles. Built on Mobileye’s industry-leading EyeQ® technology, EyeQ® Ultra delivers the same processing power as 10 EyeQ system-on-chips in a single package and is designed to deliver optimal performance for autonomous vehicles.

At a press conference that day, Mobileye announced that it would be collaborating with Volkswagen and Zeeker, a subsidiary of China's Geely Holding Group.

Volkswagen announced that it will be applying Mobileye's advanced mapping technology to its driver assistance features.

Ziker and Ziker announced that they will be the first to produce a Level 4 commercial autonomous vehicle under the Ziker brand in 2024, and will also be the first in the industry to launch and ship a Level 2 or higher autonomous vehicle equipped with a 360-degree detection system and driving policies for longitudinal and lateral control.

Self-driving car tests are taking place in Israel, Detroit and Munich, with additional locations planned for Tokyo, Shanghai, Paris and New York.
