Infineon Technologies (Korea CEO Seung-soo Lee) continued its innovation for future mobility by expanding its AURIX™ MCU product family.

Infineon announced on the 6th that it has started supplying samples of its new AURIX TC4x 28nm microcontroller for next-generation e-mobility, ADAS, automotive E/E architecture, and entry-level AI applications.

The new TC4x family provides an up-migration path for the existing flagship AURIX TC3x MCU family.

It also features scalable performance enhancements using the next-generation TriCore™ 1.8 and AURIX accelerator set.

This includes a new parallel processing unit (PPU), a SIMD vector digital signal processor (DSP) that meets the requirements of various AI topologies.

Accordingly, it can be used for various real-time control and radar post-processing. This is a scalable product family concept that can utilize a common software architecture, enabling the reduction of platform software.

AURIX TC4x, suitable for various automotive applications including the functional integration requirements of domain and area-based E/E architectures, is expected to contribute to the advancement of autonomous driving through e-mobility and safety systems.

Infineon's AURIX TC4x is further expanding its leadership in the automotive sector by providing enhanced connectivity, including advanced safety and security.

The new SOTA (Software Over the Air) capability meets the demand for fast and secure vehicle-to-cloud connectivity, enabling field updates and diagnosis and analysis while the vehicle is in operation.

The new MCU family supports high-speed communication interfaces such as 5 Gigabit Ethernet and PCI Express®, as well as new interfaces such as CAN-XL and 10BASE T1S Ethernet.

Such enhanced network throughput and connectivity provide the performance and flexibility required to implement the new E/E architecture.

Meanwhile, sample supply of the AURIX TC49x has begun, and mass production is scheduled to start in the second half of 2024.
