Lee Sang-won, the current CEO of Lam Research Korea, has been appointed as the CEO of Lam Research Manufacturing Korea and Lam Research Korea Technology and will oversee the Korean subsidiaries.


Lam Research, a supplier of innovative wafer manufacturing equipment and services to the semiconductor industry, announced on the 4th that it has appointed Lee Sang-won, the current CEO of Lam Research Korea, as the new CEO of Lam Research Manufacturing Korea and Lam Research Korea Technology.

Lee Sang-won, General Manager of Lam Research Korea, is a semiconductor industry expert who has worked for global semiconductor equipment companies for over 30 years.

He has generated outstanding performance in key departments, including marketing, business development, and global customer business, at Lam Research and Applied Materials.

After serving as the CEO of Applied Materials Korea, he was appointed as the new CEO of Lam Research Korea in January 2021.

Lam Research Manufacturing Korea is Lam Research's global production base, which celebrated its 10th anniversary last year. It has played a partner role in the growth of the Korean semiconductor equipment parts industry, serving as a base for the localization of equipment manufacturing production beyond the local sourcing of semiconductor equipment parts.

Last February, Lam Research launched a family of innovative high-selectivity precision etching equipment for the next-generation transistor structure 'Gate All Around (GAA)' process and announced that Lam Research Manufacturing Korea would produce the product family.

Lam Research Korea Technology is the most advanced, state-of-the-art semiconductor research facility that Lam Research is introducing outside the United States.

Located in the Jigok Industrial Complex in Yongin, the center of the K-Semiconductor Cluster, it will begin full-scale operations in the first half of this year.

We plan to showcase industry-leading deposition and etching technologies for memory and logic applications.

It is expected to shorten the learning cycle and provide rapid solutions to customers by narrowing the geographical distance between Lam Research’s R&D facilities and customers and suppliers, thereby taking the level of cooperation and the speed of innovation in the Korean semiconductor industry ecosystem to the next level.

We plan to strengthen cooperation for semiconductor hardware and process development by building a strong global network with Lam Research’s laboratories in the U.S. and Europe.
