Infineon Technologies (Korea CEO Seung-soo Lee) was recognized by Hyundai Motor Group for its efforts to stabilize its supply chain.

Infineon announced on the 5th that it received the '2021 Supplier of the Year Special Award (Supply Chain Management Excellence)' from Hyundai Motor Group.

Hyundai Motor Group acknowledged Infineon's efforts to stabilize the uncertain supply chain despite the challenging circumstances caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and the global semiconductor shortage.

In particular, Infineon was recognized for its outstanding crisis management capabilities through collaboration with the Hyundai Motor Group. Infineon Korea and Infineon headquarters provided flexible and strategic collaboration to manage challenging market conditions. As an example, Infineon demonstrated its product quality and ability to adapt to new demands by offering the HybridPACK™ CoolSiC™ Drive, a silicon carbide (SiC)-based power module.

“Infineon wants to be a reliable partner,” said Peter Schiefer, President of Infineon’s Automotive Division. “We are honored that our customers have recognized Infineon’s efforts to deliver products on time even in very challenging environments,” he said. “As the transition to green mobility accelerates, demand for semiconductor solutions continues to grow.”

He continued, “Infineon is leading the transition to e-mobility with its high-quality products, leading technology and systems expertise, and global production network.”

The transition to e-mobility has only just begun. Nearly half of all BEVs (battery electric vehicles) and PHEVs (plug-in hybrid vehicles) produced in 2021 used Infineon semiconductors in their inverters. To further strengthen the resilience of its supply chain, Infineon is continuously expanding its production and assembly capabilities for high-power solutions in Europe and Asia.

Infineon is also strengthening its leadership in the power semiconductor market by adding significant wide-bandgap (SiC and GaN) semiconductor production capacity. SiC could contribute to increasing electric vehicle driving range by 5% to 10%.

Hyundai Motor Group has been awarding its "Supplier of the Year" award since 2002. In 2019, Infineon became the first semiconductor company to receive this award. This award recognizes its on-time delivery performance and its contribution to strengthening the competitiveness of Hyundai Motor Group.
