Samsung Electronics to Host First '6G Forum' in May... Beyond 5G, into the Future of 6G

As competition to lead future technologies beyond 5G and 6G becomes increasingly important, Samsung has created a forum to discuss and share related technologies.Samsung Electronics announced on the 13th that it will hold the first 'Samsung 6G Forum' on May 13th.
Samsung Electronics, through the 'Samsung 6G Forum,' has created a forum where global experts and academics and industry professionals can discuss and share future technologies related to 6G, the next-generation communications technology that is expected to bring about significant changes across all industries around 2030.
The first 'Samsung 6G Forum' will be held online under the theme of 'Realizing the Next Hyper-Connected Experience for All.' The 'Samsung 6G Forum' website (Samsung6gForum.com) has released the schedule of major events and has begun accepting advance online registration.
Anyone can apply to participate in the forum through the website until the day of the event, and applicants can receive schedule information and register questions online.
This event will be live streamed on Samsung Electronics' YouTube channel and will be divided into morning and afternoon sessions, where attendees can listen to lectures from experts and participate in panel discussions.
The morning session will be held on the topic of '6G Transmission and Reception Technology (6G Air Interface)'. The event will begin with a welcoming address by Seung-Hyun Jun, President and Head of Samsung Research, followed by lectures by Professor Jeffrey Andrews of the University of Texas at Austin, Charlie Chang, Senior Vice President of Samsung Research America (SRA), Takehiro Nakamura, Senior Vice President of NTT Docomo, and John Smith, Senior Vice President of Qualcomm.
Following the lecture, a panel discussion among the speakers is scheduled to be moderated by Samsung Research Fellow Lee Ju-ho.
In the afternoon session, Professor Tarik Tareb of the University of Oulu, Finland, Master Maeng Seung-ju of Samsung Electronics, Professor Sim Byeong-hyo of Seoul National University, and Professor Shi Jin of Southeast University in China will give lectures on the topic of the 6G Intelligent Network.
After the lecture, the speakers will participate in a panel discussion led by Vice President Choi Sung-hyun, head of the Next Generation Communication Research Center at Samsung Research.
Seung Hyun-jun, President and Head of Samsung Research, said, "Samsung Electronics holds 'Samsung Tech Forums' every year, including the AI Forum and Security Technology Forum, to share and discuss core technologies for a better future with global experts." He added, "Along with this, at the 'Samsung 6G Forum' being held for the first time this year, we expect to expand the base of future technologies envisioned by Samsung Electronics and strengthen its competitiveness through the exchange of 6G technologies, the next-generation communication technology that will change our lives."

Meanwhile, Samsung Electronics announced that it has begun full-scale research on 6G technology, including the world's first commercialization of 5G, the establishment of the Next Generation Communication Research Center under Samsung Research in 2019, and the publication of the '6G White Paper' in 2020, and plans to proactively lead the global standardization and technology development ecosystem in the future.all.

SK Telecom First Applies AI-Based Network Operations at Gwanghwamun K-Pop Concert
SK텔레콤이 3월 21일 서울 광화문 일대에서 열린 대형 K-팝 공연에 AI 기반 네트워크 운영 시스템을 처음 적용해 통신 품질을 관리했다고 밝혔다. 공연 전후 3시간 동안 모바일 데이터 사용량은 12.15TB로 직전 주말 같은 시간대보다 약 2배 늘었다. SK텔레콤은 AI 시스템 ‘A-One’을 활용해 5분 단위, 50m 단위로 트래픽을 감시하며 과부하 가능성에 대응했고, 임시 통신 시설과 현장 인력 운영도 병행했다. 밀집 행사와 외국인 이용 수요가 동시에 늘어나는 환경에서 AI 기반 자율 네트워크 운영의 현장 적용 가능성을 확인한 사례로 해석된다.
