HDR10+, the next-generation picture quality technology utilized by most production companies and device manufacturers providing HDR content, is expanding. As the high-definition content ecosystem expands, users are expected to be able to fully enjoy the picture quality and contrast that the creators intended.

The HDR10+ ecosystem is expanding as Samsung Electronics joins hands with domestic OTT companies such as Tving and Watcha to focus on expanding HDR10+ content.

HDR10+ is a video standard technology led by Samsung Electronics, which optimizes brightness and contrast ratio for each scene by considering the performance of the display on TVs and mobile devices.

Samsung Electronics has been distributing its self-developed HDR10+ content conversion software free of charge since 2019 to expand the base of HDR content, and many video content companies, including CJ Olive Networks, Watcha, U5K Imageworks, and Candit Studio, are utilizing it.

Tving will begin applying HDR10+ from 2021 and will provide a total of about 40 HDR10+ contents, including recently aired Tving original contents such as Seoul Check-In, The King of Pigs, Women in the City of Drinkers, and The Goblin.

Watcha, which has been providing HDR10+ content since 2020, has applied HDR10+ to around 30 movies and TV programs, including the original series 'Hanwha Eagles: Clubhouse'.

The UHD Blu-ray title of the movie 'Parasite' presented by CJ E&M was also released in January of last year after being remastered in HDR10+ by Plain Archive and Candit Studio.

As of recently, 139 member companies, including TV and display companies, SoC manufacturers, and content production companies, have released over 5,000 certified models.

Samsung Electronics launched 'HDR10+ Technology LLC' in 2018 to expand the HDR10+ ecosystem. We established a company and operate an HDR10+ certification/logo program and provide technical support.
