Recently, Tektronix unveiled an oscilloscope made by engineers for engineers, showcasing its performance in the market.

element14 announced on the 11th that it has begun sales of the new Tektronix Series 2 Mixed Signal Oscilloscope (MSO). Tektronix's next-generation instrument is expected to provide solutions to engineers in laboratories and the field with improvements in test and measurement performance, versatility, and portability.

The Tektronix Series 2 MSO is a new product made by engineers for engineers, suitable for embedded design, industrial, automotive, and power electronics applications. Designed for ease of use, the Series 2 MSO provides the interfaces found in Tektronix oscilloscopes, just like the Series 4 through 6. It was emphasized that this enables both novice and experienced users to relatively easily and quickly access all measurements and settings necessary for intuitive debugging and essential signal verification.

With many engineers and technicians working in distributed environments and hybrid work styles becoming common practice, there is a growing need for high-performance test equipment that enables teams to collaborate. The 2 Series MSO comes with integrated software tools included as standard, allowing engineers across different time zones to collaborate, solve problems, and debug.

In addition, the cloud, where engineers can upload, store, organize, and share data from connected devices, includes TekDrive, a test and measurement workspace.

Along with a high-resolution 10.1-inch touchscreen display, optional features such as a 50MHz random function generator, built-in pattern generator, voltmeter, and frequency counter provide greater versatility in a single unit, eliminating the need for users to purchase or carry multiple instruments. With a thickness of 38mm and a weight of 1.8kg, it features a lightweight design that is compact enough to fit in a laptop bag, making it suitable as an entry-level scope.

Key features of the 2 Series MSO include a bandwidth of 70 MHz to 500 MHz, 2 or 4 analog channel inputs, 16 digital channels (available in a future software release), a 2.5 GS/s sample rate, an optional 50 MHz random function generator, a built-in pattern generator, voltmeter, and frequency counter, and an optional battery power supply for up to 8 hours.
