As the adoption rate of AI technology in applications increases, the convenience of daily care functions is also rising. Along with this increased convenience, concerns regarding the safety of AI technology are also growing; accordingly, products with highly reliable and ethically safe AI reliability certifications are expected to appear in the market one after another.

Samsung Electronics announced on the 19th that it has obtained the 'Artificial Intelligence (AI) Reliability Certification' organized by the Korean Standards Association, the first in Korea.

The AI Reliability Certification, newly established as a result of the 'Private Sector AI Reliability Pilot Certification' project conducted by the Korean Standards Association since May last year, is awarded after verifying the reliability and ethical standards of AI technology applied to products and services. Specifically, it verifies four requirements: transparency, safety, accountability, and respect for diversity.

The products and services that received certification this time are the robot vacuum cleaner 'Bespoke Jet Bot AI' and 'SmartThings Home Care'.

Bespoke Jet Bot AI has been recognized for its reliability in object recognition and classification technology. Equipped with LiDAR and 3D sensors and trained on 1 million images, this product recognizes not only the house structure but also 20 types of objects in real-time, including furniture, appliances, cups, and dogs. In particular, it classifies recognized objects according to their risk level and moves with different avoidance patterns for each obstacle, enabling safe cleaning.

For example, if the robot vacuum detects a glass cup while driving, it determines that it is a fragile or dangerous object and cleans it while avoiding the glass cup, or cleans contaminants such as pet waste from a greater distance than dangerous objects. It can also distinguish low-risk objects, allowing it to approach furniture or appliances closely and clean them thoroughly.

In particular, this certification statistically verified whether the robot vacuum cleaner is capable of recognizing objects regardless of the brand, shape, or breed of the obstacle. Transparency and stability were also confirmed, ensuring that object recognition data is collected solely for the purpose of performance improvement and processed safely.

SmartThings Home Care, one of the six major services provided by Samsung Electronics SmartThings, has been certified for its reliability through the AI technology applied to the washing machine's 'anti-freezing mode'.

When the Bespoke Grande AI washing machine's anti-freezing mode is enabled, it combines external weather forecast data collected via the 'HRM (Home Appliance Remote Management) Server' with the washing machine's own data, such as room temperature and washing temperature, to provide the user with advance notifications and response guidelines when there is a high probability of the machine freezing.

Every morning, it predicts whether freezing will occur the following day and sends a notification to the user's smartphone at the time they frequently use the washing machine. In particular, the accuracy of the results is continuously improved by continuously monitoring the prediction results.
