Microchip Technology, a global leader in microcontrollers, mixed-signal, analog semiconductors, and flash-IP solutions (Asia General Manager and Korea Representative: Han Byeong-don), awarded scholarships to outstanding domestic electrical and electronics engineering students to foster next-generation engineers and contributed to future business development.

On the 21st, Microchip awarded scholarships to 34 electrical and electronics engineering students from 14 domestic universities as part of its '2023 University Support Program' held in Seoul.

Microchip's '2023 University Support Program' has been conducted with the goal of investing in the future of the semiconductor industry and contributing to talent development in the region. Through this, Microchip continues to make efforts in various ways, including discovering and supporting next-generation engineers, and providing product-related education and curriculum for Microchip.

This year's Microchip university student support program selected undergraduate and graduate students who completed all free lectures related to PIC® and AVR® microcontrollers (MCU) and received excellent evaluations in industry-academia cooperation programs and academic achievement.

Han Byeong-don, Microchip Asia General Manager and Korea Representative, stated, "I extend my sincere congratulations and encouragement to the many students who have received Microchip scholarships, and I hope they will contribute to the industry in the future. Microchip's university support program is designed to encourage the development of next-generation electronic engineering engineers, and we have been cooperating with several prestigious domestic universities for a long time to provide comprehensive and high-level engineering education to future talents," he said.

Microchip's university support program first started in Korea in 2005 and has awarded scholarships to 321 students to date, with over 40% of them developing into MCU engineers. Over the past several years, Microchip has continuously provided online educational courses to make it easier for students to access MCU lectures and related educational materials. This year, Microchip added lectures on FPGA solutions, development platform applications, and major megatrends to allow students to access more diverse topics and resources. Going forward, Microchip plans to continuously expand its educational programs and support domestic students in their academic pursuits and future aspirations.

Meanwhile, the universities participating in this 2023 scholarship program are Kyung Hee University, Korea University, Kongju National University, Kwangwoon University, Kookmin University, Dong-eui Institute of Technology, Mokpo Maritime University, Bucheon University, Ajou University, Yonsei University, Incheon Institute of Technology, Korea Engineering University, Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), and Korea Aerospace University (in Korean alphabetical order), for a total of 14 institutions.
