Infineon Launches Power Module for Electric Vehicle Traction Inverters

Infineon Technologies (Korea CEO Seungsoo Lee) is launching a new power module for electric vehicle traction inverters, offering scalability with the same footprint as existing products, along with higher power levels and greater ease of use.
Infineon announced on the 4th that it is launching a new automotive power module, HybridPACK™ Drive G2.
The HybridPACK Drive G2 builds on the widely used, high-density B6 package HybridPACK Drive G1 by providing scalability with the same footprint, higher power and greater ease of use.
The HybridPACK Drive G2 is available in various current ratings and voltages (750 V and 1200 V) and features Infineon's next-generation chip technology, EDT3 (Si IGBT) and CoolSiC™ G2 MOSFET.
Delivering up to 300 kW of power in 750 V and 1200 V voltage ranges, the HybridPACK Drive G2 offers increased ease of use and new features.
For example, system costs can be reduced by integrating options such as next-generation phase current sensors and on-chip temperature sensing.
Additionally, these power modules achieve higher performance and power density through improved assembly and interconnect technologies.
New interconnect technology (chip sinter)ing) and new materials (new black plastic housing) have been adopted to enable higher temperatures, thereby achieving higher performance and extending product life.
The first generation of HybridPACK Drive (G1) was launched in 2017 and adopted silicon EDT2 technology.
It provides power from 100 kW to 180 kW at 750 V. In 2021, the HybridPACK Drive Automotive CoolSiC MOSFET family will be expanded, enabling inverter designs to achieve higher power (up to 250 kW) at 1200 V, longer driving range, smaller battery size, and optimized system size and cost.
With approximately 3 million units sold to date across various global electric vehicle platforms, Infineon's HybridPACK Drive is the leading power module in the electric vehicle market.
The main products of the new HybridPACK Drive G2 (FS1150R08, FS01MR08, FS02MR12) are currently in mass production and will be available from May 2023.

ST Microelectronics has unveiled the 'STSPIN9P' series of 75V motor drive ICs tailored for 48V-class industrial drive system design.
