Today, companies transitioning to AI require all the technologies and services that encompass the entire process of training and tuning AI models, including foundation models and machine learning capabilities, with trusted data, speed, and governance, for utilization across the organization. Furthermore, all of this must be available in one place and executable across all cloud environments.

IBM announced on the 10th at its annual Think conference that it will launch IBM WatsonX, a new AI and data platform that enables enterprises to quickly and widely leverage the latest AI through trusted data.

Clients can utilize toolsets, technologies, infrastructure, and professional consulting services to build AI using their own data in a more reliable and open environment, or to fine-tune AI models released to the market for large-scale use. Differentiated competitiveness and unique business value are expected to increase increasingly depending on how AI models adapt to a company's unique data and domain knowledge.

At this event, IBM announced future plans, including GPU-as-a-Service infrastructure designed to support AI-intensive workloads, an AI-based dashboard to help measure, track, manage, and report cloud carbon emissions, and new services for IBM Consulting’s Watson X and Generative AI to support customers’ AI utilization.

IBM offers GPU-enabled services in the cloud. To address the global demand for Foundation models, IBM is announcing a service that enables GPU utilization on the IBM Cloud as AI-customized infrastructure to support computationally intensive enterprise workloads. Later this year, IBM plans to provide a comprehensive, high-performance, flexible, and AI-optimized infrastructure as a service on the IBM Cloud for training and utilizing Foundation models.

IBM Consulting announced the establishment of an Excellence Center for Generative AI with over 1,000 Generative AI experts and stated plans to build active deployment and utilization cases for Watson X for customers. IBM Consulting has already completed dozens of customer projects integrating IBM Watson and the ecosystem partner portfolio into Generative AI through the IBM Garage methodology.

The IBM Cloud Carbon Calculator is an AI-based dashboard that enables customers to measure, track, manage, and report carbon emissions generated during the transition to a hybrid multi-cloud environment. Powered by IBM Research technology, the IBM Cloud Carbon Calculator is scheduled for release later this year. Dashboard supports organizations in achieving sustainability and business goals by complementing IBM’s existing sustainability solutions, including IBM Envige ESG Suite, IBM Turbonomics, IBM Planning Analytics, and IBM LinuxONE, with a portfolio of technology and expertise.

IBM Chairman and CEO Arvind Krishna emphasized, “With the development of the Foundation Model, AI for business has become more powerful than ever. The Foundation Model has not only made it much easier to scale AI adoption but has also made it available at an affordable cost and more efficient.” He added, “Because we have built IBM Watson X to meet the needs of enterprises, customers can not only use AI but also clearly reap its benefits.”

He added, “Customers will be able to use IBM Watson X to rapidly train AI while maintaining complete control over their data, enabling them to leverage customized AI capabilities across their entire business.”
