ROHM to supply SiC power devices worth over 130 billion yen to Vitesco Technologies through 2030

ROHM announced on the 20th that it has signed a long-term supply partnership agreement with Vitesco Technologies for SiC power devices.

The transaction amount is expected to exceed 130 billion yen from 2024 to 2030.

This agreement is based on the 'Power Electronics Development Partnership for Electric Vehicles' signed between the two companies in 2020, and through close technical collaboration, the two companies have been developing SiC power devices and SiC-equipped inverters optimal for electric vehicles.

As the first result of joint development, Vitesco plans to begin supplying advanced inverters equipped with ROHM’s SiC chips in 2024, ahead of the original target schedule, and adoption has already been decided for electric vehicles by two major companies.

SiC power devices are a very important item in the development of inverters for electric vehicles, enabling the design of even more highly efficient power electronics. Among these, SiC chips are an important key technology for electric vehicles that require high-voltage response, extended driving range through effective use of electric energy, and reduced battery size.

Through this long-term supply partnership, Vitesco will be able to secure capacity for SiC chips, a strategically important item in the development of electric vehicles.

Vitesco and ROHM plan to strengthen their cooperation going forward to support high efficiency and rapid charging of electric vehicles through SiC.
