SKT is improving accident detection capabilities by combining Vision AI (Image Recognition AI) technology with CCTV to increase the accuracy of video analysis.

SKT announced on the 18th that it is launching a next-generation AI-based intelligent video surveillance solution together with Innodeb, a company specializing in CCTV control platforms.

SKT combined its proprietary Vision AI technology with the integrated CCTV control platform built and operated by Innodeb.

This solution utilizes Vision AI technology to analyze video captured by standard CCTVs on a server and notifies control center operators of abnormal situations. It is applicable to most standard CCTVs currently in operation.

Accident detection capabilities have been improved based on enhanced video analysis accuracy compared to existing solutions. The primary detection targets include people, vehicles, and motorcycles, and the company explains that it possesses a wider range of analysis functions compared to other solutions.

In addition, the ability to classify human attributes has been enhanced. Detailed analysis is possible for gender, age, clothing type (top and bottom), and body shape (short or long), and color information can be distinguished up to 13 types. It also analyzes medium and large vehicles such as passenger cars, trucks, and buses, as well as small objects such as bicycles and motorcycles. By determining hair length, whether a hat is being worn, etc., it is possible to locate missing children, elderly people with dementia, and search for criminal suspects.

SKT stated that the system is characterized by significantly improved operational reliability achieved through the application of large-scale AI training data secured over a long period and proprietary Vision AI lightweighting and optimization technologies. SKT said, “We expect this to contribute significantly to enhancing public safety as well as strengthening security at various facilities in the future.”

The two companies plan to first focus on supplying customized AI CCTV solutions for the public sector and local governments, and then expand into the private market, including large corporations and factories, after securing successful operational cases in the public sector.

With the launch of this solution, both companies are discussing entry into various Vision AI markets expected to experience ultra-high growth, as well as the video surveillance security sector, and plan to continuously expand successful collaboration models incorporating advanced AI technology.
