KT is accelerating its full-stack AI infrastructure business.

KT Group announced on the 23rd that it has invested 15 billion won in More, an AI infrastructure software company. This is the second investment, following an initial investment in 2021, with KT investing 10 billion won and KT Cloud investing 5 billion won.

KT Group said, “The collaboration with Moreh is significant in securing national AI competitiveness based on domestic technology at a time when the domestic AI infrastructure market is largely dependent on foreign solutions.”

KT is continuing its collaboration with KT Cloud, More, and Rebellion, and is aiming to become an AI full-stack operator encompassing both SW and HW. We provide products and services that cover the entire process, from AI semiconductors and cloud infrastructure to AI application services provided to customers.

KT aims to overcome its GPU dependence, which currently stands at nearly 80% on NVIDIA. First, it will implement an AI infrastructure software stack compatible with NVIDIA's existing CUDA. By providing a common development environment, it will address dependence on foreign GPUs and its dependency on them. Furthermore, chipsets developed by domestic fabless AI semiconductor companies like Rebellion can also be applied to the AI development environment.

Furthermore, AI cluster and cloud solutions address the challenges of implementing large AI models through automatic compiler parallelization. GPU virtualization and dynamic allocation also enhance cloud infrastructure utilization. Programs written for a single GPU can be automatically parallelized and executed across multiple GPUs, making it easier to implement large-scale artificial neural network models like GPT-3.

Since virtual GPUs are allocated when actual GPU operations are executed and deallocated when the program ends, computing infrastructure resources can be flexibly operated and used as needed.

Meanwhile, KT launched its first pay-as-you-go GPU service, "Hyperscale AI Computing (HAC)," in late 2021. This is a pay-as-you-go service based on actual usage, providing high-cost GPU infrastructure through dynamic allocation. KT has successfully applied its own AI framework, enabling CUDA support, to HAC, and is supporting the same development environment for GPUs from semiconductor companies other than NVIDIA.

KT Group will integrate AI infrastructure and application services, Moreh's AI semiconductor-powered software, and Rebellion's AI semiconductor capabilities. The company announced plans to invest approximately 2 trillion won by 2027 to provide a stable growth foundation for ventures and startups, ultimately leading to the establishment of a healthy national innovation ecosystem. In the second half of the year, it plans to launch AI-based B2B services, including the launch of the ultra-large AI platform "Trust."
