SK and global telecommunications companies have joined hands to lead the global shift in the AI industry landscape.

SK Telecom (CEO Yoo Young-sang) announced on the 27th that it held the 'Global Telco AI Alliance CEO Summit' at Walkerhill Seoul on the 27th, attended by Chairman Choi Tae-won, SKT President Yoo Young-sang, and key executives of major global telecommunications companies in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, and officially launched the 'Global Telco AI Alliance' centered around SKT, Deutsche Telekom, e&, and Singtel.

This summit, chaired by Chairman Choi Tae-won, was attended online and offline by top executives including Claudia Nemat, Vice President of Deutsche Telekom, Hatem Dowidar, CEO of e& Group, a leading Middle Eastern telecommunications company, and Yuen Kuan Moon, CEO of Singtel Group.

Deutsche Telekom is one of the world's largest telecommunications companies, operating in 12 countries around the world, including Germany and the United States.

E& Group also has operations in 16 countries across the Middle East, Asia, and Africa. It is a global ICT company that provides communication services.

Singtel is a leading Asian telecommunications company that provides wired and wireless communication services, including mobile and high-speed internet, to 21 countries, including Australia, India, Indonesia, and Thailand.

SKT also discussed ways to strengthen business cooperation to lead the global AI ecosystem with the participation of key executives leading the AI transformation, including President Yoo Young-sang and Global/AITech Business Division Head Jeong Seok-geun.

At this summit, SKT, Deutsche Telekom, e&, and Singtel launched the 'Global Telco AI Alliance' and signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for cooperation in AI business.

Looking at the main contents of the MOU, the four companies agreed to jointly develop a 'Telco AI Platform' based on each company's core AI capabilities.

The 'Telco AI Platform' will play a central role in planning new AI services, including jointly building a core Large Language Model (LLM) for developing AI agents for each telecommunications company in the future.

Through this, each telecommunications company plans to focus on increasing customer value by flexibly localizing/advancing AI services on a common platform, rather than investing time and money in developing a large platform.

For example, telecommunications companies can accelerate the launch of generative AI-based super apps in each country, allowing them to quickly deliver new AI experiences to their global customers.

Accordingly, the four companies will pursue multifaceted cooperation, including provision/procurement of accompanying large-scale language models and support of data and AI experts.

In addition, a working group was established to discuss new investments, joint R&D, and other areas to jointly develop a Telco AI platform.operates.

Additionally, we plan to cooperate in publishing, vertical service partnerships, and marketing operations for AI service development in each country.
