All students in the Department of Semiconductor Engineering at Korea University are given the opportunity to grow into semiconductor talents with an international perspective by studying at UC Davis, one of the California State Universities, with the full support of SK Hynix.

Korea University (President Kim Dong-won), SK Hynix (CEO and Vice Chairman Park Jeong-ho / President Kwak No-jung), and UC Davis (President Gary S. May) signed an agreement on student exchange on the 30th by remotely connecting the main building of Korea University, the SK Hynix building, and the UC Davis campus in the United States.


Korea University’s Department of Semiconductor Engineering is the undisputed best semiconductor contract department in Korea, established in March 2021 through the collaboration of Korea University and SK Hynix to foster key talents for developing the Korean semiconductor industry to the world’s highest level.

With the signing of this agreement, all students in the Department of Semiconductor Engineering at Korea University will have the opportunity to be dispatched to UC Davis in the United States for one quarter when they become sophomores. In addition, we plan to actively pursue international cooperation with UC Davis in the future, not only in student exchange but also in the field of semiconductor research.

Full tuition and living expenses are provided to dispatched students, and students are required to complete major courses such as Engineering Problem Solving, Digital Systems I, and Probabilistic Analysis of Electrical & Computer Systems.

In addition, all students in the Department of Semiconductor Engineering will reside in homestays in the Davis area rather than university dormitories, allowing them to experience American culture firsthand.

Through this opportunity, students from Korea University's Department of Semiconductor Engineering are expected to play an active role as semiconductor leaders with an international perspective at the global company SK Hynix in the future.

At the signing ceremony, Korea University President Kim Dong-won stated, “Korea University and SK Hynix plan to cooperate to the best of their ability so that the Department of Semiconductor Engineering can become a cradle for creating a better world at the center of cutting-edge technology. I am confident that this agreement will provide an opportunity for creative talents with a broader perspective to grow into key personnel specialized in the semiconductor field.” He added, “This program will not only serve as a stepping stone for our students’ growth but also act as a catalyst to promote their development into talents with a global perspective.”
