Infineon Technologies (Korea CEO Seungsoo Lee) is supporting banks in designing differentiated cards with its technology that enables contactless payments using credit cards that incorporate light-emitting LEDs.

Infineon announced on the 30th that its SECORA™ Pay security solution supports card inlays with LEDs.

This family of Visa and Mastercard certified products allows banks to design differentiated payment cards.

When you hold your card up to a point-of-service (POS) terminal to make a payment, an embedded LED provides visual feedback.

The SECORA Pay product portfolio uses security controllers with certified software integrated into CoM (Coil-on-Module) chip modules. Featuring standardized inlays for easy and fast card production, it boasts fast contactless transaction speeds and high performance. Furthermore, card manufacturers can flexibly place white LEDs in designated areas, customizing them with a variety of colors using printed foil to further enhance brand recognition.

The LED lights are powered by the NFC magnetic field of the POS terminal, eliminating the need for battery power. Furthermore, this product family can be integrated into card manufacturers' manufacturing processes with minimal changes, enhancing scalability. EMVCo-compliant dual interface cards allow for quick and easy integration, simplifying authentication processes and accelerating time to market.
