According to a recent Gartner report, shipments of handheld gaming consoles are projected to reach approximately 14.8 million units by 2027. As the mobile gaming market continues to grow today, peripherals supporting it are being released one after another.

Western Digital announced on the 11th that it is launching a new high-performance premium M.2 2230 SSD for handheld PC gamers, the 'WD_BLACK SN770M NVMe SSD', in Korea.

With this new product, Western Digital plans to further strengthen its WD_BLACK high-performance storage portfolio to meet various gaming needs and deliver an upgraded handheld gaming PC experience to consumers.

With the WD_BLACK SN770M NVMe SSD, available in an ultra-compact M.2 2230 form factor, consumers can expand the internal storage of their handheld gaming PCs and easily carry their game libraries anywhere.
The new SSD is equipped with Western Digital TLC 3D NAND with a capacity of up to 2TB, and the new drive is equipped with PCIe Gen 4.0 technology, nCache 4.0, and Microsoft DirectStorage technology.

The WD_BLACK SN770M NVMe SSD is a specialized solution for upgrading compatible handheld devices, including ASUS ROG Ally, and supports speeds of up to 5,150MB/s (based on 1TB and 2TB capacities).
