Jan Becker, CEO of Apex.AI, was selected as a figure who opened new horizons in the SDV field, with praise as a true industry pioneer who set an example of the convergence of the digital and analog worlds.

Apex.AI announced on the 11th that its CEO, Jan Becker, received the Pioneer Award at MotorTrend’s 2nd Annual SDV Innovator Awards held at CES 2024.

The SDV Pioneer Award is presented to individuals who have opened new horizons in the SDV field through the research, development, and application of new automotive software.

Apex.AI develops safety-certified and scalable middleware software solutions for various mobility applications to support the rapid transition to software-defined vehicles and software-defined mobility.

Jan Becker has contributed to the development of autonomous driving, robotic systems, and the implementation of software-defined vehicles for the past 25 years.

Becker, one of the original authors of the SAE Autonomy Levels, holds more than 50 automotive patents, and his research and academic papers on autonomous vehicles and automotive software have been cited thousands of times.

He also founded Apex.AI to support automotive manufacturers in transitioning to software-defined vehicles more quickly, enabling them to provide safer, more convenient, and efficient mobility solutions.

Recently, Apex.AI developed a proprietary passenger management system for the autonomous Volkswagen ID Buzz for the ride-sharing service of MOIA, a subsidiary of Volkswagen Group, and helped AGCO accelerate its research and development schedule to provide smart farming solutions for the future of highly automated agriculture.

Also, with KRONE, a manufacturer of agricultural machinery and precision agriculture technology, cultivation, sowing, and sustainable crops We have conducted a project to develop commercially viable autonomous agricultural machinery in collaboration with LEMKEN, an innovative machinery manufacturer for management.

Jan Becker was previously the head of autonomous driving for North America at Bosch and was a member of Stanford University's DARPA Urban Challenge team in 2007.

Since 2010, he has been lecturing on autonomous vehicles and driver assistance at Stanford University, introducing automotive technology, vehicle automation, and software-defined vehicles to hundreds of students.

In 2016, he was invited to the White House to discuss autonomous vehicle technology and policy guidelines, and in the same year, he was selected by Automotive News as one of the "60 People Leading the Autonomous Driving Movement."
