SKT uses AI to analyze networks in three-dimensional space to improve network operation efficiency.

SKT announced on the 16th that it has applied the 'Deep Network AI (DNA)' solution, which precisely analyzes network conditions in a 3D environment using AI technology, to its commercial network.

'DNA' technology uses AI technology to analyze and visualize network situations in three-dimensional space.

SKT said, “Existing network analysis was conducted in a two-dimensional space, making it difficult to precisely analyze network experience or quality in a three-dimensional environment. However, with ‘DNA’ technology, we can comprehensively understand specific building spaces or moving spaces such as subways, railways, and roads, and analyze network traffic, network speed and coverage experienced by customers, and customer inconveniences.”

'DNA' is the result of integrating AI-based network quality analysis, indoor positioning, and mobility analysis technologies that SKT has developed so far. SKT announced that it plans to “improve network operation efficiency by accurately analyzing time, location, and situation (TPO) using DNA and fine-tuning network quality.”

SKT is currently applying 'DNA' analysis to over 70% of spaces in the metropolitan area, including commercial buildings, subways, railways, and roads, and has confirmed that the time to recognize network degradation in the field has improved by an average of over 60% compared to before.

SKT plans to continuously expand the scope of its "DNA" analysis, moving from understanding current on-site situations to predicting future communication conditions. Furthermore, the company plans to further enhance its AI model by analyzing it using a digital twin that resembles the real world where communication equipment is installed.

Meanwhile, SKT plans to unveil overseas examples of 'DNA' utilization through the upcoming MWC 2024 exhibition and actively pursue business collaborations with global partners utilizing 'Network AI' technology.

Park Myeong-sun, head of SKT Infra AI/DT, explained, “This is a meaningful result of the fusion of various AI model technologies developed in the network field, such as location, mobility, and network analysis,” and added, “We plan to continuously improve customer experience quality and network operation efficiency by utilizing AI technology.”
