As intelligent devices continue to proliferate at the edge, demand is growing for new, cost-effective ways to revolutionize design.

NXP Semiconductors today announced the launch of the MCX A14x and MCX A15x, the first products in the versatile A-series of the MCX portfolio.

The new MCX A series is a compact microcontroller (MCU) optimized for power architecture and software compatibility, making it suitable for a variety of embedded applications, including industrial sensors, motor controllers, batteries, portable power system controllers, and IoT devices.

The MCX portfolio, including the MCX A Series, is supported by the MCUXpresso developer experience, which includes the latest version of the FRDM development platform.

The enhanced FRDM board accelerates prototyping and enables rapid porting and loading of custom hardware. The integrated toolset, along with support for FreeRTOS and Zephyr, ensures scalability and portability across the MCX A and other NXP MCU platforms when selecting an IDE. This enables faster and easier creation of new products and targeting of new use cases on a common development platform with a consistent user experience.

As intelligent edge devices proliferate, the MCX A Series empowers engineers to easily implement innovation. It enables smart, connected edge solutions through compact, low-cost MCUs equipped with autonomous, low-power peripherals.
