Applied Materials Korea (CEO Kwang-sun Park), a global leader in materials engineering solutions, has sponsored science classroom programs for four consecutive years, contributing to the development of science, culture, and arts in the local community.

Applied Materials announced on the 24th that it signed an MOU with the Green Umbrella Children's Foundation for community science, culture, and arts education and that it will sponsor the 'Science Classroom with Applied Materials' and 'Traditional Culture Classroom with Applied Materials' programs.

The 'Science Class with Applied', sponsored by Applied Korea for the fourth year, will be held from July to August for 400 elementary and middle school students from 22 local children's centers in Seongnam and Icheon. It features a curriculum that allows students to enjoy and experience science as if it were their daily lives through hands-on teaching aids and scientific experiments.

Participating children will experience the power of semiconductors in their daily lives by directly assembling experiential educational tools such as AI autonomous vehicle kits and smart home creation kits, and configuring circuits. This not only increases understanding of semiconductors, but also fosters self-directedness, scientific thinking, and creativity.

The 'Traditional Culture Class with Applied', newly prepared this year, is a social contribution program in the field of arts and culture. There are many cases where traditional culture events and cultural heritage transmission activities are sponsored at the corporate level, but it is not common to sponsor experiential activities for children, so it is meaningful.

The traditional culture classroom program will be held for approximately 200 elementary and middle school students from 10 local children's centers in the southern Gyeonggi region, including Pyeongtaek and Hwaseong, for one month starting in July.

Children make traditional masks themselves and learn mask dance, which is listed as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. Through traditional cultural experiences, they can develop their bodies as well as learn how to express emotions and communicate smoothly with others.

The traditional culture classroom program highlights the importance of preserving traditional culture, while also enhancing peer communication skills and a sense of accomplishment through performances based on the learning content.

Applied employees will participate as assistant instructors in science classrooms and traditional culture classrooms. Through prior training, they will understand the purpose and value of the programs and help children grow through emotional communication.
